Examiner disclosure

The names of examiners are not withheld from students.

It is Board of the Graduate Research School policy to release the full set of examiners' reports directly to the student at the end of the examination.

Contact us directly with any queries

Examiners are asked to return their report within six weeks of receiving a thesis.

If it becomes evident that this will not be possible, notify us immediately.

  • Reports may be faxed, emailed or posted to the Graduate Research and Scholarships Office.
  • To minimise delays, it is recommended that you fax or email recommendations, and then return the original documents in the mail.
  • If the reports are emailed in the first instance, specify the category of classification you recommend (as set out on the Examiners Recommendation Form below) and the scores for each of the six criteria.

  • There is no preferred form of return mail. If you require reimbursement for mailing costs, enclose a receipt for costs with the thesis.

Number of examiners

The University requires:

  • three external examiners for the PhD
  • two external examiners for the master's degree.

All communication with examiners during the examination process is conducted through the Graduate Research and Scholarships Office.

Consult the Guidelines for Examiners for more information.
