The Graduate Research and Scholarships Office runs full day workshops for supervisors.

These workshops are for academic staff who are relatively new to postgraduate supervision, or staff with postgraduate supervision experience who want to reflect upon, develop and refresh their current conceptions and practice of supervision.

Topics covered in the include:

  • Negotiating the roles and responsibilities of the supervisor;
  • The supervisor-student relationship;
  • Best practice in postgraduate supervision;
  • Student perceptions of good supervision (panel discussion);
  • Important issues relating to international and sponsored students

The aim of these workshops is to increase participants’ awareness of a range of approaches to postgraduate supervision and of the specific contributions a supervisor can make.

Details about upcoming workshops and online registration can be found on the Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) website.
